Construction Effects

In July, August, and September, you can expect the following:

  • Modified pedestrian paths on 5th Avenue and Baltic Street adjacent to the site will allow necessary infrastructure and site work. Signage has been installed to direct pedestrians around the site.
  • The changes in pedestrian pathways resulted in the temporary removal of street parking on the west side of 5th Avenue between Sterling Place and Baltic Street, and on Baltic Street between 5th Avenue and Gregory Place.
  • The changes to pedestrian paths and parking on 5th Avenue will be in effect through August, while the changes on Baltic will remain in effect until this fall.
  • Truck deliveries within hours of operation. Our team has instructed truck drivers to park only where permitted; not to park in bus stops or crosswalks; not to block deliveries to local businesses or residential driveways; and to follow all applicable NYC regulations regarding idling. Our team will endeavor to minimize the impact of truck traffic.
  • Construction vehicles will access the site via vehicular gates on Fifth Avenue, Baltic Street and Gregory Place. The Gate on Gregory Place will be used less frequently due to the addition of the Baltic Street gate. Flagmen will be present to help ensure pedestrian safety as vehicles enter & exit the site.
  • In the event that high wind conditions are in the forecast, the construction crane on-site will be temporarily lowered and Gregory Place will be closed to vehicular traffic until weather conditions improve and the crane is re-hoisted.
